Meet the Baker

 

Hello! My name is Annie and I am the face behind Blue Ridge Cupcake Cupcake Company. Blue Ridge Cupcake Company is a home bakery based in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Some of my earliest memories are in the kitchen making cookies, cakes, and cupcakes with my mother. Baking has always been my passion but it has been quite a journey to arrive here. From college athletics, to becoming a police officer and landing in social work, I became a mother and decided to step away from my career. 

 

In the year 2020, I closely brushed with death due to complications after the birth of my daughter. The effects were devastating and rippled throughout every aspect of my life. I lost myself in the trauma and struggled to find a way out. I started baking as a means of escape and rediscovered myself. Baking has brought me the peace I have longed for and provided the creative outlet I craved for so long. 

 

The name Blue Ridge Cupcake Company was dreamed up after having spent most of my life in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Every spring when I was a little girl, my dad and I would cut a few branches from the Dogwood tree outside our kitchen window and take them to my Nana’s grave. Every time I think of a dogwood flower, they remind me of my dad. That is the conceptualization behind Blue Ridge Cupcake Company and the logo. 

 

I believe that cakes and cupcakes are more than just a dessert. They are memories, quality time, and of course, delicious. When you choose Blue Ridge Cupcake Company to make your cake or cupcakes for your event, you are creating memories that will last a life time.
